Purpose:This document provides step-by-step instructions to troubleshoot and configure the WR30 scanner for Bluetooth HID (keyboard) mode connection to a Windows PC.
Applies to:CipherLab WR30 used in combination with Windows PCs via native Bluetooth (no dongle).
Background Notes:
WR30 may automatically switch to SPP mode when paired with CipherLab dongles or IntelliWorker.
SPP mode disables the ability to send keystroke-like barcode data to a PC.
To restore HID mode, a configuration barcode must be scanned.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Check Current Bluetooth Connection
Go to Windows Settings > Bluetooth & Devices
Confirm that WR30 is paired and listed as a Bluetooth device
If connected but not transmitting scan data, proceed to Step 2
2. Disconnect Existing Devices
Ensure WR30 is not connected to any other device (such as RS series terminals or dongles)
Unpair WR30 from unused or previous connections
Or Reset Connection
(1).Enter Setup
(2). Scan Barcode
(3).Update
3. Reset WR30 Bluetooth Mode (Optional)
Power off WR30
Hold the scan trigger while powering on to enter reset/configuration mode

4. Switch WR30 to HID Mode
Scan the HID Mode barcode from the WR30 user manual

Wait for the device to beep and reset
5. Pair WR30 with Windows PC
On your PC, go to Bluetooth Settings > Add Device
Select WR30 from the list and pair
No PIN may be needed, or default PIN could be "0000"
6. Test Scanning Functionality
Open Notepad or any text editor
Scan a barcode — data should appear as if typed via keyboard
7. If Issues Persist
Ensure keyboard input language is set to preferred language
Confirm WR30 battery is charged and device firmware is up to date
Re-scan the HID barcode and re-pair the device
